hurricane1Third graders and parents organized many creative ways to raise the money, from a Dollar for Denim Day where money was collected in old jeans, to a very popular (and delicious) nut-free Bake Sale. Our PA also pitched in, collecting change and donations at the Welcome Back Ice Cream Social.

Emily Rapp, a Willow third grader, laughed as she remembered people’s reactions to the jean collection bags and said that the bake sale was so successful because her classmates put extra effort in to sell their goods.

Dylan Auerbach, another Willow third grader, said that her favorite part of the charity project was “how much money we raised because it will help a lot of people who got hit by the hurricanes. I hope that they get all of their books and toys and clothes and everything back so they can continue on with their lives.”

“I hope everything gets fixed again and it all goes back to normal,” Franki Meyer, another Willow third grader, added. “I hope that they get everything they need and that nothing like this ever happens again.”
