Over the last three months, Willow alumna Greta Schacht has been volunteering at a school for impoverished children in Tanzania. She has been deeply inspired by Juma Judson, the director of the school, who she calls “one of the most amazing individuals I’ve yet to meet.” Now, Juma and Greta need your help to support 15 orphans!
“Juma has recently built an addition to his small home in Arusha where he will be able to properly house the 15 orphans that he has taken in over the past few years,” Greta explains. “With all of his money going toward the cost of construction, there are limited funds going toward the interior necessities for the children. These include beds, mattresses, blankets, pillows, tables, chairs, plates, utensils, cubbies, and virtually everything else that you can think of that should be in a child’s room. Even funding for meals is frighteningly low.”
Greta calculated that $5,000 USD will cover these costs, and she’s hoping to raise that in the next 24 hours! Click here to donate by midnight tomorrow, December 5, and support a Willow alumna’s incredible and inspiring service!
Greta was inspired to volunteer after watching the film Girl Rising, which she held a screening of at Willow last year. “Willow is a place of action and change,” Greta said in an interview with Willow’s Alumni Society Coordinator. “Willow educates children to act with confidence and compassion, and meet big challenges head on.”
