Willow English Teacher Leads Lecture at Local Library

by | Sep 9, 2019 | Homepage News

Willow Middle School English teacher Dr. Corey Abate will be leading a talk called “Vixens, Volcanoes, and Vipers: How Mary Shelley Wrote Frankenstein” at the Library of the Chathams on Saturday, October 26 at 2pm. Dr. Abate will tell the story of how Mary Shelley conceived her most famous novel and one of literature’s most despicable title characters.

Dr. Abate first came to learn of Mary Shelley’s visit to Villa Diodati, and what she had to endure leading up to that trip, when she was hired to be the research assistant for biographer Benita Eisler and her book on Lord Byron.

The talk is part of the Chatham Adult Lifeworks Learning (CALL) continuing education program for adults. The talk is free, but registration is required. You can find out more and register here.
