How to Celebrate a Food Allergy-Safe Halloween

Willow’s third annual Teal Pumpkin Spooktacular was not only jam-packed with Halloween fun, it was also a very successful fundraiser for Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE)! Thanks to your generous support and a match from an anonymous donor, we were able to raise $1,780 for FARE this year.

We hope that our annual party inspires you to think about how you can celebrate a more safe and inclusive Halloween. We encourage you to join the Teal Pumpkin Project!

FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all kids. It’s easy to join and make a difference this year! Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Provide non-food treat options for trick-or-treaters. Here are some ideas from FARE. Think about treat options that can be reused or are made of earth-friendly materials, too.
  2. Place a teal pumpkin on your doorstep to let neighbors know that you have non-food treats available.
  3. Add your home to the Teal Pumpkin Project map.
  4. Spread the word! Share information about the Teal Pumpkin Project with your friends and family. Here are some simple ways to share.

This small act means so much to families who deal with potentially life-threatening allergies, many of whom are unable to safely celebrate Halloween without your help. Find out more about FARE and the Teal Pumpkin Project at foodallergy.org.
