COVID-19 Update: Willow Closed

by | Mar 13, 2020 | Homepage News

As The Willow School continues our efforts to safeguard our community and do our part to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we have decided to delay the reopening of school after our upcoming spring break.

We are committed to continuing to provide a top-notch Willow education during this time. After spring break, we will switch to online classes. March 30th-April 1st will be used as planning time for teachers and time for students to practice using our digital learning tools. The first official day of digital learning will be April 2nd.

Over the next two weeks, more information will be shared with parents about the schedule for students, what platforms will be used, how to use and access this technology, and resources and recommendations for you to support our digital learning during this time. Parents, please continue to check your email and the Parent Portal regularly for updates on our digital learning schedule and plans.

We are also considering the best course of action regarding all events scheduled in April, May, and June. We will follow CDC recommendations for social distancing and take as much time as possible before making decisions about the cancellation of any event.

Prevention

Please be reminded that the best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure to the virus. The following preventative actions are recommended by the CDC:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your coughs or sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, such as door knobs, railings, phones, and computers, often using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
